Aldi Süd commissioned us with the conception and implementation of its first pop-up bistro, which was intended to continue its “principal of simplicity” outside of its supermarkets.
Eight stylishly converted shipping containers with a total of 90 square meters of space served as the location for the Bistro, which opened its doors at Cologne’s Mediapark in spring 2017.
The architecture, simply and appealingly designed, combines industrial upcycling charm with modern details and comfort. The culinary concept also follows the principle of “simplicity”: the guests were offered a set menu each day – always at the same price and always with fish, meat and vegetarian main course options. And of course created exclusively from Aldi products.
In this project, our team was responsible for the development of the entire concept, location research and building acceptance, as well as the culinary concept and operation of the bistro. The menus were created with the help of TV and street food chef Robert Marx.
